Technical Writing Course

No other course in Israel reaches the level and depth of the subject matter to prepare you to begin working as a technical writer.

WritePoint's extensive experience spans all aspects of Israel's high-tech industries. With close to 15 years of experience in the industry, offering courses to some of Israel's largest companies, we have based the curriculum in this course on the training we currently offer our own in-house technical writers and on what we know our clients need.

We go beyond the basics and cover all of the major applications used in the industry, including many value-added pointers, to provide the students with a full complement of best practices in every topic presented.

Enrollment in the course is based on a personal interview to assess your current computer and writing abilities. Graduates will have competency in the concepts, implementation, and tools needed to be an effective technical writer. Applications taught include Microsoft Word, Adobe FrameMaker and RoboHelp, other specials tools, several graphics applications and much more.

Class curriculum includes:

  • Basics of technical writing: How to correctly and efficiently write user manuals, installation guides, etc. - for both hardware and software. How to formulate procedures, effectively write introductions, what belongs in a document and what does not, how to present information, etc.
  • Learning the tools you need to create documents: These include Word and FrameMaker (although most people know Word to some degree, we will be taking that knowledge to a much higher level in order to enable you to successfully create effective documentation).
  • Learning the tools you need to take these documents online: We will focus on the theory and the practice of creating online help and single-sourcing with RoboHelp and other tools.
  • Learning a rich complement of tips and tricks: For WritePoint, it isn't enough to teach you the basic skills. We make sure you are ready to enter the technical writing profession with smart skills that make you a value asset to a technical writing team.

While we cannot guarantee job placement, we are ever increasing our ability to place our graduates in the job market. Many of our students have also found employment on their own. The high-tech companies in which our students are now working include ECI, Gilat Satellite, HP, Mercury, Comverse, Verifone, LUZ II Eshbel Technology, CheckPoint, and more.

All courses are held in our Training Center, located in Har Hotzvim, Jerusalem. The Training Center is conveniently located near major bus routes and parking is available.
