What People Say:

"I had experience in marketing and communications writing from previous jobs, but I was hired at my company because they wanted a manual done. I was able to really impress them by taking the test they sent me, which was to write a piece of their manual. The work I did in previous jobs helped (PR and teaching English), but the Writepoint course was the icing on the cake."
Tamar Weiss, Marketing and Technical Writer, PiSoft Ltd.

"I… just wanted to thank you for helping me enter the Technical Writing profession. After almost a year and a half at Comverse, I literally find myself thanking G-D for this opportunity almost every day on my way to the office. I am working in a wonderful environment with even more wonderful people. I feel very fortunate and since I would not have been here without you, I figured a thank you is in order.

In addition, I would actually like to know if there is something that I can possibly give back. I do not know if you do this, but I was thinking that it might be beneficial for your students to hear a former student's feelings and thoughts about the profession."
Hillel Fuld, Technical Writer, Comverse

"To the person who asked about technical writing courses- ... I am part of the current WritePoint course, which is just finishing (the last class is tomorrow). I have found it to be exceptionally comprehensive and rigorous. While I can't say (yet) what the job market will be like for me, the course itself has been excellent. The women who run the course are true professionals and experts in the field, and there was no "fluff" in the course at all. We met twice a week with 5 hour classes (including 1 hour or so of break), for 4 months.

In addition, there is a lot of homework for us to do for the purpose of gaining experience working with the tools taught, and building a portfolio that we can show to prospective employers. Paula and Avigail, though very busy, were always available to review our homework attempts and help us improve anywhere something was lacking. Resume coaching was also part of the course. All in all, I've been extremely impressed and feel as well prepared as I think I could without yet having had actual job experience.

I would say that success in the class is proportional to the willingness of the student to work, in particular the completing of the homework assignments, and reviewing and practicing the learning at home. Taking thorough notes is also strongly recommended, since there is so much information and knowledge being given over during class.

The biggest challenge is retention! Before I signed up for the course, I also spent some time asking some technical writers I know, and trying to get a feel for how they got started, what they know, etc. As the course went on I also inquired with some people to gauge their familiarity with some of the contents of the course that I was learning at the time. I found that often I was learning things that they weren't even aware of (particularly certain advanced features in Word, FrameMaker, etc).

I have yet to see what this will mean as I look for my first job, but I do feel that I have tools now that will hopefully help me succeed at whatever job I find (G-d willing), especially in the long term. All in all, outside perhaps of time I spent learning in yeshiva, it's been one of the best educational experiences I think I've ever had. I recommend WritePoint's course without reservation."
Yosef Dishinger

"I took the WritePoint technical writing course and was pleased with the way the course prepared me. It is a very "hands-on" course which teaches you about writing, editing, and the programs which are used in the marketplace. The instructors are very knowledgeable and experienced. They present the material very well. As with anything else, what you get out of the course reflects what you put into it. It is important to attend class, do the homework, and spend extra time working with the various programs."
Nanci Miller, Documentation Manager, LUZ II

"The WritePoint technical writing course really covers all the bases. It gives you a solid grounding in technical writing style and technique, and provides a thorough introduction to the most popular authoring and graphics tools. The assignments are meaningful, and really help the students develop solid portfolios. The instructors also share their experiences in the field, explaining how technical writers get the information they need to get the job done, and Paula works hard to make the classes a lot of fun.

WritePoint placed me in a major hi-tech firm as soon as I was ready to enter the field. They helped with finding the right position and negotiating terms, and were there along the way with ongoing help and advice. I will always be grateful to Paula and WritePoint for giving me my start in my new profession."
Jeff Aftel, Technical Writer, HP

"Just a note of thanks to you (Avigail Frij) and Paula Stern for providing such a quality training program for technical writing that I took this past spring/summer. Serving as a process engineer for AT&T for the past eight years, your course has provided excellent direction and allowed me to improve my skills in technical process writing that I do on a daily basis. Though I am Six Sigma Black Belt certified, there has never been a course available that taught actual process writing and organization. In particular, I benefited by improving my skills in Word, PowerPoint and Visio.

You provide such an important service to both new and veteran English speaking Olim by building on their English skills to receive gainful employment. The Israeli Hi-Tech companies benefit by employing your former students who should very successful after taking your very comprehensive course."
Jonathan Kowal , Process Manager, AT&T

"Anyway, just wanted to finally take the opportunity to tell you how much I appreciated the course. It gave me confidence for the job search, and has served me well as a jump start in my new job."
Michal Berman

"The (Technical Writing) course gave me an insight into proper writing (even in Hebrew…). I am the Word Guru of the IT department as funny as it may sound), and I only use styles when I write documents. Documentation here is basically non-existent, which is very common in old time companies, so I get to lead the way in templates and formatted documents for things like: requirements analysis, high level design, software specifications, user guides, meeting notes, detail design and more.

You guys taught me well, and I am proud to say that I am putting some of it to good use (but I am still not a big Verdana fan…)…. Continue the good work."
Meir Bar-Lev, IT Team Leader, Ayalon Insurance Company
