Some Troubleshooting Tips:

Common solution to the Firewall Problem

The most common solution to the firewall problem has been including the Flare program in the Windows Firewall Exceptions area. If you are not using the Windows Firewall, you should still add MadCap Flare to the exceptions area of the firewall as Microsoft still may run some process in the task manager. Please try the following solution.

1.       Click on the Start button in your Windows operating system.

2.       Locate and select the Control Panel feature.

3.       When the Control Panel window opens, select and double-click the Windows Firewall icon.

4.       In the Windows Firewall dialog, click on the Exceptions tab.

5.       Search to see if MadCap Flare is listed in the Programs and Services: area.

6.       If MadCap Flare is not listed, click on the Add Program... button.

7.       In the Add a Program dialog, locate and select the MadCap Flare program.

8.       Click the OK button.

9.       Check to see if the MadCap Flare is listed with a checked box in the Programs and Services: area.

10.   Click the OK button.

Note: All firewalls must have the MadCap Flare program in the application list that allows for Internet access. Please check your firewalls to see if it is properly configured. If you are trying to run Flare in a network environment at your work, please check with your system administrator to see if a firewall on the router or server needs reconfiguration.
